Now that I&#8217;ve got some free time, I&#8217;m trying to make a dent in that pile, and decided a much easier alternative to darning was to slap on some elbow patches.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><a title=\"elbow patch by childerhouse, on Flickr\" href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/childerhouseblog\/7924753896\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/farm9.staticflickr.com\/8169\/7924753896_aa4dc7ac91_z.jpg\" alt=\"elbow patch\" width=\"576\" height=\"384\" \/><\/a>The leather I have on hand is a bit thick for elbow patches, but I thinned it down and used <a href=\"http:\/\/images.marthastewart.com\/images\/content\/web\/pdfs\/2010Q1\/msl_0210_elbow_patch_template.pdf\" target=\"_blank\">this template<\/a> to get the shape just right. I used embroidery floss and lots of patient stitching to attach the patches to the sleeves, and stuck an iron-on patch on the inside of the damaged elbow to prevent further unraveling.
