When I told Nick I was planning on dip-dyeing some some things, he insisted on building me <a href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/childerhouseblog\/8384742284\/in\/photostream\" target=\"_blank\">a machine that would do the work for me<\/a>. As it turns out, it was exactly what I needed:<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><a title=\"rope gifts\" href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/childerhouseblog\/8335074898\/\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/farm9.staticflickr.com\/8216\/8335074898_b16c3b971c_z.jpg\" alt=\"rope gifts\" width=\"576\" height=\"376\" \/><\/a>The yellow bag and the red basket both took a ride on the dyeing machine, and although it&#8217;s hard to tell with the yellow, you can see the subtle gradation of color on the red basket. The yellow bag was the first non-round cord creation of mine, and it was a bit trickier than the standard circular basket. After dyeing it, I attached a couple hand-stitched leather handles with some brass rivets:<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><a title=\"rope bag with leather handles\" href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/childerhouseblog\/8334014657\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/farm9.staticflickr.com\/8079\/8334014657_ee6fb6ee09_z.jpg\" alt=\"rope bag with leather handles\" width=\"384\" height=\"576\" \/><\/a>I dyed the cord for the green and blue basket before I sewed it together.
